Internship Opportunities

"My experience at Union Pacific has been very rewarding. I was granted full autonomy of my summer project which has allowed me to showcase my talents, making me feel like more than just an intern. Exposure to high level executives has been one of the highlights of my internship. Due to UP training courses, as well as, lunch and learn sessions, I’ve expanded my skill set beyond measure. Being the first generation to work in a corporate environment has been challenging yet inspiring. Thank you Union Pacific for allowing me to intern with amazing people and a burgeon company!"

- Samia Berry, Clark Atlanta University

Internship opportunities are available for both summer and year-round session. As a summer intern, you will work full-time from late May/early June through the beginning of August. As a year-round intern, you can expect to work full-time during the summer time, but also work part-time during the college semesters.

We also offer a high school intern program to help students identify future areas of study.

Company Paid Housing and Transportation

We provide housing and transportation (valued at $2,000) to interns who don't have access to housing during their internship. Located near the University of Nebraska-Omaha campus, Scott Court Housing is suite-style living in a dormitory atmosphere. It's within walking distance to Aksarben Village, an urban development with a movie theater, outdoor events in Stinson Park, as well as numerous dining and shopping options. In each suite, you will find private bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a furnished living area and full kitchen.

Interns and co-ops working outside of the Omaha area may be eligible for a monthly payroll stipend to assist with housing needs. Eligibility will be handled by the department on a case by case basis.

Our traditional co-op program is for college students who have an arrangement with their academic institution to alternate full-time work and college semesters. This type of program is primarily offered by our Operating departments, typically for those with engineering degrees, which includes Engineering, Mechanical and Transportation focuses

You may alternate between work and study for two or more terms and possibly receive college credit for participating in our programs, depending on your field of study.
