Description

Ensure railroad track compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Union Pacific regulations.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations
  • Inspect main line, yard and siding railroad tracks, switches and other facilities to ensure compliance with Union Pacific and FRA standards
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA); practice safe work habits to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries

 

Qualifications - Required

  • Proficient verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Current Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 213.7 Parts A, B, and C qualification and is this qualification active in the MOQ database
  • Current Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 213.7 Parts A, B, and C qualifications
  • Able to understand and apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks and avoid potentially risky behaviors and situations
  • Experience reading and understanding instructions (examples may include: operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents)

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Position is governed by American Railway and Airway Supervisors Association (ARASA) Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is a right of selection position
  • 3 years experience working in Railroad Maintenance of Way
  • 1 year experience working as a track foreman

Physical and Mental Job Requirements

Walking: Must be able to walk on uneven ground, such as unpaved surfaces, rough terrain, or outdoor environments with varying elevations. This may include walking for extended periods while maintaining balance and stability to navigate through challenging surfaces and potential obstacles.

Work Conditions

  • Minimum age requirement: You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship.
  • Work Environment: You should be willing to work outdoors, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): You are expected to wear PPE as required by the company, including safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection.
  • Working at Heights: You may be required to work at various heights as part of your job.
  • Availability: You must be available to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Working around Large Equipment: You should be comfortable working in close proximity to large equipment such as railcars, locomotives, and cranes.
  • Employment Agreement: This position is governed by the American Railway and Airway Supervisors Association's (ARASA) Collective Bargaining Agreement. However, you will not receive a seniority date or have seniority rights.
