Description

As an intern with our Tech Build Center, you will build knowledge and experience within one of our core Tech groups, reliable for building, configuring and delivering Tech devices to UP employees. Team members are setup with the methods (training) to support environment as defined by role.  Our facility is responsible for several areas, Windows Client, Android Client, Network Infrastructure, and network printers.

 

You will work out of a secure satellite office and configuration center located in West Omaha, easily accessible via the interstate to both the Omaha and Lincoln college campuses and have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high value project assignments.

 

The estimated wage for this position is between $20 - $26 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

 

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for production environment for both growth and restoration of critical business solutions where accountability is expected  
  • Windows client (PC) hardware diagnostic and troubleshooting to find usability for production client environment
  • Responsibility of Windows client and Windows server data safe disposition prior to assets end of life cycle
  • Windows client understanding of basic Operating System principals, application installations, workstation/user windows domain policy, system registry and account management specific to the Windows Client environment
  • Networking configuration for Cisco network equipment and camera systems using Python or like scripting methods to restore or grow critical infrastructure components
  • Communicate with customer employee groups to build understanding of project requirements and apply or develop solutions to deliver on originally set expectations
  • Android device support to include applied network, operating system and applications as defined for the individual project
  • Process improvement workflow opportunities that automate daily tasks where possible with scripting technologies learned in classroom and applied in the workplace

 

Qualifications - Required

  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree
  • Basic time and project management skills
  • Basic organization and prioritization skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical problem solving

Physical Requirements

  

  • This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
  • Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions

Work Conditions
