Description

Union Pacific is looking for interested students who would like to work as a year-round intern in the Safety Department. This position will help conduct thorough analysis of compliance waivers, ensuring accuracy and completeness. 

 

This position will be administered as a paid year-round internship and provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced business environment with one of America's leading transportation and logistics companies. The work schedule is flexible and can be designed to accommodate the course commitments of the successful candidate. A flexible work schedule includes up to 25 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer months.

 

As an intern, you will build knowledge and experience in our core business groups and their vision, business objectives, processes, systems, and services. You will have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high value project assignments.

 

The estimated wage for this position is between $20-$23 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Accountabilities

  • Regularly update and maintain a comprehensive database of existing waivers, including expiration dates
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for renewal or extension of waivers and provide timely reminders to the team
  • Collaborate on Tableau projects, contributing to data visualization initiatives
  • Perform detailed, in depth data examination to extract relevant information
  • Communicate findings and insights effectively to the team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Required

  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills

Qualifications - Preferred

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Advanced problem solving skills

Physical and Mental Job Requirements

  • This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
  • Maintain concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions 

Work Conditions

  • Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
