Description
Union Pacific Railroad is looking for a talented paralegal student to assist the Law Department. The paralegal intern will assist other paralegals with review and analyses of documents, fact gathering and legal research, drafting legal documents, and other projects for Labor, Employment, Personal Injury, and Real Estate litigation, as well as regulatory and transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have completed 2 years of paralegal studies by May 2026 and have strong writing and communication skills.
The position will be administered as a year-round internship at Union Pacific's headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The work schedule is flexible and can be designed to accommodate the course commitments of the successful candidate. A flexible work schedule includes up to 40 hours per week available during the summer months and an average of 15-25 hours per week available during the academic year.
The estimated wage for this position is between $21.00-$24.00 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Accountabilities
- Support legal team operations by assisting with the organization and maintenance of electronic legal files.
- Coordinate with external legal vendors and counsel to facilitate onboarding and documentation.
- Assist in tracking and processing legal invoices and related administrative tasks.
- Contribute to the efficiency of legal matter management through accurate recordkeeping and timely follow-ups.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and administrative procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications - Required
- College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills
Qualifications - Preferred
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for reviewing legal documents and identifying key facts.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on assigned projects.
- Exposure to case management or document management systems
- Enrollment in a Paralegal Studies program or a Bachelor’s degree program in Pre-Law or a related field.

- Maintain concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions
