Join Loup Logistics as a year-round intern and gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of multi-modal transportation, which combines the strengths of rail and truck services to deliver flexible, efficient solutions to shippers across North America. As Union Pacific’s logistics arm, Loup offers a unique opportunity to work alongside industry leaders and contribute to initiatives that enhance operational performance, drive innovation, and improve customer satisfaction.
Interns will build foundational knowledge across Loup’s core business units, learning how we deliver value through transload, intermodal, and strategic services. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage with senior leaders, and apply your analytical and communication skills to high-impact projects that shape the future of logistics.
This opportunity requires in-person work in Omaha, NE during the summer months (mid-May through early August). Union Pacific provides relocation stipends and housing accommodation for students living more than 75 miles from Omaha. During the academic year, interns are expected to work 15–25 hours per week, with full-time availability during the summer.
The estimated wage for this position is between $21.00 -$24.00 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Accountabilities
- Support Core Business Operations - Learn and assist with essential department tasks, including customer outreach, shipment tracking, and sales enablement. Help drive performance across Loup’s intermodal and transload services
- Drive Operational Excellence - Support initiatives that improve logistics workflows, shipment visibility, and equipment utilization. Contribute to efforts that streamline operations and enhance service delivery across Loup’s intermodal and transload networks
- Collaborate on Projects - Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement action plans that improve internal processes and enhance customer experience
- Build Professional Networks - Engage with professionals across Loup and Union Pacific, gaining exposure to logistics, operations, and technology teams
- Manage Real Initiatives -Own project deliverables and contribute to initiatives like equipment utilization, shipment visibility, and customer engagement scoring
- Use Industry Tools - Leverage platforms such as Salesforce, Tableau, and ShipmentVision to document work, analyze data, and support your assigned business team
- Perform Other Duties as Assigned - Be flexible and proactive in supporting the team’s evolving needs
Qualifications - Required
- College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills
Qualifications - Preferred
- College credits towards a degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management
Physical and Mental Job Requirements
- This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
- Maintain concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions
Work Conditions
