Opportunities are available in a variety of areas within the Finance Department, including: Accounting, Corporate Audit, Real Estate, Supply Chain, Tax, Treasury and Planning and Analysis. Assignments are determined by business needs along with education, skill set and preferences.
The basic purpose of the jobs are to lead, manage and conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on a variety of business issues in order to develop recommendations and strategies for management. These recommendations may involve marketing, operating, legal, supply operations, procurement, real estate, corporate, financial, accounting, and/or strategic issues. These positions require obtaining the cooperation or assistance of other departments or parties outside the railroad in the collection and understanding of data elements necessary to perform the analysis.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Union Pacific is looking for an Sr Analyst / Manager II / Manager I to join our Finance team in Omaha, Nebraska. This position is an individual-contributor role and reports to the Finance director. A successful candidate should enjoy a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and be a team player. They should be detail oriented and have excellent multi-tasking, prioritization, and communication skills.
Accountabilities
As an Sr Analyst / Manager II / Manager I, you will have the opportunity to work in payroll, accounts payable, revenue accounting, property and contract billing, or financial review.
- Lead, manage, and/or conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on a variety of business issues.
- Develop recommendations and strategies involving marketing, operating, legal, real estate, corporate, financial, accounting and/or strategic issues.
- Analyze core financial process (e.g., revenue and payment process, operating routines) to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Identify expense reduction or cash recovery opportunities.
- Safeguard the Company’s assets by monitoring compliance with established policies and procedures, analyzing financial and/or operating data.
- Enhance systems or processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related field.
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience.
Qualifications - Preferred
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 2 years of related experience preferred for Sr Analyst; 4 years related experience preferred for Manager II; and 5 years related experience preferred for Manager I.
Physical and Mental Job Requirements
- This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens.
- Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions.
