Description
The regional Fiber Optic Construction Coordinator (CC) position is responsible for the coordination of activities supporting customer owned and operated fiber optic and telecom assets, with an emphasis on protecting Railroad operations and interests, and rigorous attention to all aspects of safety to ensure successful collaboration. This includes support of new construction, asset maintenance, and emergency response and restoration efforts. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history as a dedicated, professional, and responsible individual, with a clear commitment to the highest ethical standards.
Accountabilities
- Will be authorized to make field line changes to fiber optic customer's approved plans while fiber optic construction is in progress
- To determine and obtain flag protection and ensure effective safety protection processes are utilized as required for each project
- Ensure all fiber optic and internal Union Pacific customers are familiar with and utilize the Union Pacific Railroad ""Call Before You Dig!"" program
- Ensure specific fiber optic customers are safety trained and familiar with On Track Safety to be on or about railroad rights-of-way
- The ability to master and effectively apply safety rules, champion safe work habits, identify safety risks, and take decisive action to resolve potentially risky behaviors and situations
- Collaborate with Service Unit employees (Engineering and Operations) on a daily basis
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict resolution
- Maintain Engineering Maintenance of Way and Telecom rules qualification
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Must practice safe work habits to prevent on the job accidents and injuries. Must utilize all protective equipment assigned
- Will serve as a single point of contact between the fiber optic customers and the railroad's various Operating Departments
Qualifications - Required
- Applicants must have reached the age of 18 or above.
- Valid driver's license
- Basic Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to effectively communicate with customers, coworkers and supervisors
- Effectively manage work time and deliver a quality product on time
