Description

Electricians perform all aspects of industrial facility wiring installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
 

Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations 
  • Conduct job briefings to ensure safe and effective coordination of activities 
  • Understand and follow company and industry safety rules, practices, and standards 
  • Read, interpret, understand and find (if necessary) written or electronic information including information from diagrams, schematics, blueprints, graphs, and charts, and input information into computer 
  • Communicate technical information, job briefing information, job procedure recommendations, and other work-related information with others through writing, in-person interaction, telephone, email, and radio 
  • Ensure that all equipment and materials are available and ready for use as needed 
  • Ensure safety of self and co-workers 
  • Work with information in print or on a computer 
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills 
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work activities, determine equipment needs, and develop sequence of steps to get work completed 
  • Welding experience or certifications in mig, tig, stick 
  • Prepare equipment and materials as needed, and effectively operate the equipment, including measuring instruments (micrometers, tape measures, dial calipers, etc.), precision machines (drill and punch presses, bench lathes, etc.), hand tools (drills, wrenches, grinders, etc.) 
  • Repair, replace and maintain tools, equipment and shop machinery 
  • Diagnose shop equipment and machinery malfunctions 
  • Inspect and service equipment, machinery and tools in compliance with company, federal and industry standards 
     

Qualifications - Required

  • Basic computer and keyboarding computer skills
  • Able to understand and apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks and avoid potentially risky behaviors and situations
  • Able to read electrical schematics and prints
