Description

General janitorial tasks, such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, waxing floors, washing walls, and cleaning public rest rooms and offices. Will be required to operate mechanical janitorial equipment.
 

Accountabilities

  •  Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations
  • Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications - Required

  • Ability to speak English in a clear, concise manner to communicate with coworker(s) and supervisor(s)
  • Able to read and comprehend regulations and instructions as well as possess good verbal communication skills
  • All applicants must have reached the age of 18 or above

Physical and Mental Job Requirements

  • Lift, carry, or otherwise move weights of up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Conditions

  • Union Pacific runs 24/7. This role may require working different shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Work occurs indoors and outdoors in all weather
  • Prepared to work in settings that operate shop equipment like forklifts and cranes.
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective gear for most of the day
  • Follow safety protocols and practices.
  • Prepared to work in settings that involve large equipment such as railcars, locomotives, and cranes.
