Our text message service works with almost all mobile providers in the United States.

Why do I need to verify my phone?

Verifying your phone is a one-time step and is one way we ensure the security of mobile text messaging.

Are keywords case sensitive?

No, keywords are not case sensitive. You can type help or HELP.

What happens after I sign up (opt-in) to receive text messages?

After you sign up and we input your text-enabled phone number into the system, you will receive a text message the following day between the hours of 10am - 6pm CST, to confirm your request.

From what number will these text messages originate?

All confirmation text messages and subsequent alerts will come from 875627 (UPJOBS).

How do I deactivate the text messaging service?

You can text back "stop" to 875627 (UPJOBS) on your cell phone, or you can return to the My account page and turn off the preference for SMS for that mobile device number. Then, your phone will no longer receive any text messages from Union Pacific Jobs. If you change your mind, you can always change your preferences to get messages again.

How long does it take to get a text message?

You'll receive a text message response within a minute. Exact timing will depend on your mobile service carrier and your cell reception.

How secure is your text messaging service?

Our text messaging service is very secure. You can activate the service only after logging into your personal account at and verifying your phone number. Text messages will never contain confidential information about you or your accounts. Additionally, we will never sell your phone numbers or information. More details are on our privacy policy here.

I have a new mobile phone number. Can I change my number?

Yes - you just need to change your information in your account settings. If you change your number and want to receive text messages on the new number, it will have to be verified again.

Will I be charged for text message notifications?

We won't charge you, but standard carrier fees for text messaging may apply. Please check with your mobile phone carrier if you aren't sure what fees apply when you send and receive text messages.

Can I be notified via SMS about upcoming recruiting events that Union Pacific will be participating in?

You sure can! Simply go to our Events page and select the type of events you are interested in. Then click the "Notify Me" button and you will get updates when we will be in your area!

Will text message work on my phone?

Yes it will, as long as you have text messaging enabled with your mobile carrier and use a carrier that the service supports. Please check with your mobile carrier if you are unsure. Our text messages are plain text and can be received by any phone.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a Union Pacific employee and are having SMS alerts sent to your company owned telephone, you will NOT be able to receive job notifications from We recommend electing to receive new updates via email to insure you are notified when a job you are interested in is available.

How can I manage my job and event notifications?

To manage your alerts, simply go to the "My Notifications" page and update your existing notifications.

Can I get notifications on certain jobs and not others?

No -- you will receive notifications on all jobs when they become available.
