Short-term and Long-term Disability Plan

Overview

Nonagreement employees are eligible to participate in the Union Pacific Corporation Short-Term Disability (STD) & Long-Term Disability (LTD) Program following three months of continuous service.

Short-term Disability

The Short-Term Disability Plan provides continued income if illness or injury prevents you from working. The benefit is provided to employees at no cost. An employee’s level of STD benefits is determined by the employee’s years of service.

Long-term Disability

Employee supplemental AD&D insurance coverage of up to eight times the employee’s base salary.

Core Basic LTD – 50 percent of base salary, maximum monthly benefit of $10,000.

Voluntary LTD Buy-up – 62 percent of total monthly compensation (base salary plus bonus), maximum monthly benefit of $30,000.

STD/LTD benefits will be reduced (or offset) by any other income replacement benefits (e.g., disability benefits from social security or railroad retirement board).
