At Union Pacific, we understand that your work life and your personal life are interconnected. We offer a wide range of programs to help you achieve work-life balance. Our goal is always to help you live well, work well and be well.
During your first year of employment, two weeks of vacation is allotted and prorated depending on the number of whole months remaining after your hire date. Over time, you can earn up to five weeks of vacation, based on your position and years of service with us.
In addition to your paid vacation days, you may receive - depending on your position - 11 paid holidays each year.
Union vacation and holidays are determined by collective bargaining agreements.
Transportation Spending Account
Both union (agreement) and non-union (nonagreement) are eligible to participate in a Transportation Spending Account (TSA) to make parking and commuting more affordable. The account can be used to pay for these costs directly to the parking provider on a pre-tax basis, through payroll deduction.
Our Cycling Benefit Program is for employees who regularly bike to work. Employees may be reimbursed for bicycle-related expenses, up to $20 per qualified month; maximum of $240 per calendar year. This reimbursement is not subject to federal income or employment taxes. This benefit is available to both union (agreement) and non-union (nonagreement) employees.
As an employee, you will be constantly challenged to learn new technology and new ways of thinking. Our Educational Assistance Program encourages full-time employees to take job-related courses during their non-work hours at accredited schools, colleges and universities. The program reimburses employees for 100 percent of tuition up to $5,250 a year. We also encourage you to take advantage of our internal training programs. This benefit is available to both union (agreement) and non-union (nonagreement) employees.
Union Pacific has worked with a variety of vendors to negotiate discounts for our employees. You can use these discounts on purchases like automobiles, computers, home appliances, wireless phone service, personal banking and mortgage services. This benefit is available to both union (agreement) and non-union (nonagreement) employees.
