Description

Union Pacific has a student internship opportunity available with its Aviation Department. The internship position enables college students to gain experience with corporate aviation operations and a Fortune 200 company while continuing to pursue their education objectives. Interns will gain insight into the transportation industry through working for an industry leader. To be eligible for consideration, students must be currently enrolled in a college degree program; preference given to students enrolled in an aviation program or related field. Year round internship schedule available with up to 40 hours per week during summer and flexible scheduling during academic calendar.

 

As an intern, you will build knowledge and experience in our core business groups and their vision, business objectives, processes, systems, and services. You will have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high value project assignments.

 

The estimated wage for this position is between $20 - $23 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Accountabilities

 

  • Assist with project management for various company initiatives and complete administrative tasks and special projects Learn and perform core department business group work tasks, processes, and customer services supporting the Aviation maintenance operations
  • Perform administrative support for department business group managers including performing interior and exterior aircraft cleaning; performing aviation hanger maintenance and cleaning; assisting with supply procurement; assisting passengers and guests of UP Aviation as needed; cleaning and fueling vehicles; and snow removal
  • Develop and execute project action plans and perform team assignments
  • Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications - Required

  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree in an aviation program or related field
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic organization/prioritization skills and time/project management skills

Physical and Mental Job Requirements

  • This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
  • Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions

Work Conditions

  • Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
